So we are now on the 'run in' to getting it back on the road.

We start to refit everything. Everything that can go back on, before we replace the engine and gearbox is fitted first.

All the fluids which were drained initially are now replaced with fresh. Gearbox, diff, brake fluid, water & antifreeze etc etc

The engine and gearbox is now refitted, and then hoses, electrics etc all the earth points, fuse box and fuses were either cleaned, replaced or renovated. Wiring loom was inspected and rebound.

We make a start on bleeding the brakes. We thought we would do it slowly to give the fluid time to circulate gradually.

Referred to the list we made at the start and tightened up all the bolts which had been left loose.

Tried to start the engine - it fired up first time! I was impressed!!

Had to tighten the fuel lines on the carbs. We checked everything else for leaks. It all looked pretty good.

We bleeded the brakes again. They are not going to be brilliant due to renewing them all round. They need a few miles to 'bed in'. They should be ok for its MOT though.

(I drove round gently for a couple of days before I booked it in, - then it sailed through).

That’s it !!! Finished on Tuesday 11th April 2011. Just in time for our local St Georges Day car show.

Flying the Flag for Lotus !!!!
